Christmas Present

Christmas present shopping is really a headache to us, especially try to find a right present for kids.
They have almost everything, seriously, everything. What to buy some more?
Some of the item too expensive, we are not just buys for one kid; we got to buy for 4 kids.
So the budget we set was RM30 for one kid, but now came out to RM40 for one kid.
After two days shopping, we finally got a same present for three 6-10 years old niece and nephews—a Spider-man web shooter, a glove wear on and press the garget, form will shoot right out.
Hope they like it. let three of them go nut in the garden.
At first thought want to get the Mandarin story book for the eldest niece, because she too use to read the English story book and write in English, so when come to write the Mandarin composition, she adapt the English grammar in the Mandarin composition. So her mom (my sister-in-law) being advised by the school teacher to get her read more story book in Mandarin.
So I thought well, that is convenience to get some mandarin story books.
But MCAP have different thought, he said the Mandarin books are something what sister-in-law wants the kid to have, but not what the kid wish to have.
He said we have to put ourselves in the kid’s position—what I wish to have for Christmas present? As a kid.
Well, he has the point, so that was how we got the Spider-man web shooter for the three kids.
After all come think about it go to school everyday, do the homework, go for tuition, go for classes, and facing all the exam, she might wish to have something not related to the study, something just for fun.
Well, we hope we are right about this.
Then come to the 2 ½ years old niece, what to buy for her? She got Lego set, push car, Power Puff Girl soft toys, Spider-man back pack, PPG back pack, make up set, cooking set, jewelry set, hair band, hair clip, cartoon character t-shirt and shoe etc., you name it, she has it.
Before that we got a PPG projector for her, now after bought the Spider-man web shooter for the three, found the PPG projector too cheap for her, felt a bit unfair to her, so now eyeing on a PPG pillow which cost the same price like others.
I think even though for their parent also doesn’t know what to buy for them.
I found can hardly see a kid thrill with present now a day, may be I will say they happy to received a present, but are they really thrill about the gift? Or more often what I heard from my friends was the birthday boy/girl got an expression of disappointment when the moment they open the present, but they politely hide it away in just a second. Or simply bluntly said he/she already got one.
My belles with one gu-ma姑妈 already got countless of toys, I think my sister-in-law and brother-in-law also scratch head now thinking what to buy for my belles.
Last time when we were young, we only got toys during birthday, or special outing, we don’t celebrate Christmas unless we are Christian. But now the kids get toys everyday, the toys become to common to them, until we don’t know what to give when the special day come.
Sometime I wander will our kids got numb one day? To all the toys? Then what else to buy for them?
I just realised that most of our kids in the average family are facing material overflow problem, then how about those kids from the above average family? May be their Christams present is oversea trip? or may be they already too bore to travel, moon travel might be their most desire Christmas present , may be.
