I got something to say here.

Even thought 5xMoM said before there are 13 billion Chinese in
So to me Chinese is a must, but English even more important, but more like a “tool”, a must-have-otherwise-will-die tool. So same like to our Malay friend Bahasa is a must, but if they know Chinese, it will become a useful tool.
Chinese school very strict and disciplined – but if the parents not discipline their child at home, the school can’t do much about it too.
Chinese school push too much on their academic achieve – all the school is the same now, whether the kids feel stress or not, the parent still the key person to help the children over come the stress problem.
Chinese school weak on Bahasa and English – but still lot children do well. And if the parent concern about their BM and English more than the Chinese, then why send them to Chinese school?
My BIL#1 sending his daughter and son to Chinese school, so far never hear the parent or either the kids say too much home work, they just spend their necessary time on their homework, still got time to play computer game, swimming, go Sunday school, come to our house play PS2. And the parent doesn’t know a single Chinese words too, any emergency call me or their school mate. And so far what I know is they do take BM tuition, that’s all.
Some parents send their toddler to nursery from 2 years old, some chose to wait until they reach 5 (like Double Happiness). Some think their kids need to go international school, some think their kids can go to any school (like Double Happiness, again).
Sending to what school is just like what kind of food you want your children to eat, if you want to give them western food go to Victoria Station, Chinese food go to Tai Tong, Malay Food go to Rasa Utara. Cannot afford expensive restaurant mah café or hawker food also can survive mah.
Really depends on what the parent wants. And I still believe how the kids’ study will be depends on the parent more than the school, the school just teach them the knowledge, but parents is the one who show them how to make use of the knowledge.
Saya mya 2 sen.
