Scene 1
Afternoon daddy came home for lunch, Isabelle still not finish her rice. Daddy asked:
“Hah? You still not yet finish your lunch? What take you so long to finish it?”
Isabelle paused for few seconds, coolly replied to her daddy with her manja voice:

玩具

几个月前和妹妹聊起大小土阿妹，她很好奇的问起她们平时的活动。
才两岁半大的孩子，每天起床后吃了奶和早餐，就是玩，玩到中午吃午餐，再继续玩，跟着洗澡吃奶睡觉，睡醒了吃了点心又再玩，到了傍晚洗澡吃晚饭，她们的父亲也放工回来了，更是玩得天翻地覆，一直到要睡了才关进睡房吃奶睡觉。
妹妹瞪大眼睛：「天天都这样?不闷吗?」问得好。
成年人开门七件事「柴米油盐酱醋茶」，还没入学的孩子每天开眼是另七件事「吃喝拉撒玩乐闹」。除了这些，他们实在是没有其他的事了。
就因为「玩」在孩子的生活占了很大的篇幅，所以市面上的玩具种类比牛毛还多。
当她们满月和周岁的时候，亲戚朋友问起要些什么礼物，我的答案是玩具和纸尿片。自己本身很喜欢也很常买玩具给孩子，每次出门除了买她们的衣物食物以外，一定给她们带回一样玩具，只要不太贵通常都会买两份，免得她们争吵。
曾经看中一个适合她们玩的琴键，但很贵，百多块，自己又没有入息，怕土阿爸说我奢侈，不敢出声，每次看着流口水。终于有一天怕土阿爸说给她们买一样有助身心发展，又可以让她们玩得久一点的玩具，当我提议那流满我口水的琴键而他又毫无异议的就付钱时，我开心到比买SKII给我更高兴。
鲁迅写的「风筝」里，何尝不是说尽孩子爱玩呢？
大小土阿妹现在的玩具从最大的双人秋千到最小的手指布袋鹅，少说有百多样。每个晚上两个小朋友入睡后，客厅的地上，沙发上都是她们的玩具，得一件件收拾，要不就踩到或坐到，烦得土阿爸常说够了，不要再给她们买玩具了，结果放工回来又是：「小朋友，看爸爸买什么给你们？」。
小孩子玩耍和游戏时的表情最丰富，从刚开始「发现新大陆」的好奇和惊喜，到认真和投入，到最后厌烦和瞌睡，种种表情娱乐性丰富。而且现在的玩具都具有教育和学习的功能，看着孩子慢慢摸索和掌握她们手眼合作的能力，对我这个整天埋头在家务里的「驻家妈妈」(SAHM-Stay At Home Mom)来说，未尝不是一种鼓励和奖赏。
曾经和一位妈妈 交流，她是事业女性，不主张孩子有太多玩具，她觉得玩具是一种浪费：「孩子很快就玩腻了，再说他们长大后也不会记得他们曾经有过些什么玩具。」孩子每年生 日她都是给孩子红包，然后给孩子灌输储蓄的观念，她很骄傲的告诉我说她五岁大的孩子会懂得算他的户口有多少存款。这储蓄也不是孩子的教育费，那她另外有准 备，这是给孩子「压袋」，好让他以后开始工作时不必那么辛苦！
那她的孩子有些什么玩具呢？她说三辆手掌大的模型车，一架手臂长的木飞机，和一副初级「大富翁」。夫姐的小狗的玩具还比他多。
我并非和金钱过不去，储蓄的习惯也是应该从小培养，可是才五岁的孩子？觉得这妈妈把孩子和自己的需要混淆了，成人为事业工作，薪水是目标，可孩子的工作是玩，事业是玩具，快乐和满足是他们的目标。
我们会因为某个人的兴趣，事业，或地位而和对方交朋友，可是孩子只记得那个小朋友的玩具最多，最好玩，他们只和玩具最多的孩子交朋友。
或许他们长大后未必会记得曾经拥有什么玩具，但肯定他们记得自己的童年不曾空白过。
