Mutton soup

Called my parent Thursday morning, see they free for dinner or not, thank goodness both of them all in town, actually just came back from Keluang two days ago.

In the morning I get ready the lamb chop (about 4 pieces, with bone), one radish, 2 carrot, a piece of ginger about the size of half of my palm, one table spoon of white pepper. All throw into the slow cooker, by the time my parent came for dinner, the mutton soup was just nice.

(Thanks for Big Bok’s remark, I forgot the step that before throw everything in the slow cooker, boil the mutton with hot water for about 10 minutes, then rise with cold water, wash away the frothy scum on the mutton, then the soup will be clear after hours of cooking)

This soup I can only enjoy with my parent, Twinsdad doesn’t take lamb, so whenever I cook lamb or mutton, have to call my parent, otherwise there is no way I can finish the whole pot.

After the don’t-know-what-taste-mutton, my father actually a bit hesitated for coming over to have this mutton soup, but I told them I already cooked it, so they better come over to taste it.

Well, review from my father is - - A little bit salty will be perfect. Whereas my mom said - - very good, if cook without the carrot will be perfect.

We had it with the chop garlic with soy sauce, the garlic and the mutton - - perfect match :) …yummy… going to cook it again next week.

    Heh, looks like you have “perfected” your recipe . Can share it out liao loh~! I am hungry, but Malacca no shop famous for lamb soup pun.

    i like mutton but cook in rendang. so never try this and err.. i think i will not try too as my hubby langsung tak makan mutton :(

    hmm… really looks nice leh… can cook for me next time? :P

    erm..actually how does it taste like? mamibee din cook any dishes wif mutton or beef…. so i dunnoe how does it taste like..

    Haven’t try this before… but I do recommend cow’s bone soup… quite tasty :)

    Jason, I never taste this soup in any restaurant before, the only mutton soup I can get are those from mamak, whereas this one very different from mamak, this one don’t have the strong spices taste.

    Next time, try to add some(20pcs++) whole uncrush garlic in there. It taste better than your chop garlic.

    Big Bok, :oops: I forgot the step boil mutton in hot water for 10 minutes, then rise with cold water, wash away the frothy scum, then the soup will be clear after hours cook.

    Maria - how are you?? Your girls now very big already (saw in the Aquaria blog) - so pretty!

    Your mutton soup - What kind of mutton? How to ask butcher (there is a mutton seller in my market I think)?. Otherwise, can substitute with lamb chop? Easier to find in supermarket, all nicely cut and packaged!

    Hi Kat!:D, long time no “see” :lol:…how you doing? hah! you know how I doing by reading my blog, but I really don’t know how you doing leh. How are your kids? Keat must be very big boy liao hah?

    Oh, the mutton…I also don’t know what part to use, so I just bought those frozen wan like those you saw in the supermarket, with bone wan, guess is for lamb chop, find those thicker pieces, so more tahan to cook. with a bit of fat togather with the bone, the favor very rich.

    same old question — start blog or not? :)

    My pot of gold is very valuable now - very heavy to lug around! And want to run by himself (can’t have people stealing my gold, can I?! Sometimes ask bigger pot of gold,aka big sis, to chase after him!!)

    Sigh…so many things to read, where got time to blog?? Anyway, when I have something good to write, I’m usually lying in bed, and by then too lazy to on computer. Wait-lah, until I am ’siu-lai-lai’!!:lol:

    THe ginger for your mutton soup - use old or young ginger? Now rainy season like going to start, can have nice hot mutton soup for dinner!

    Forgot to ask - Is the pepper the white pepper powder? Or do we crush the whole pepper seed?

    kat, I use old ginger, my mom said old or young also can. ya wor, rainning season good to have mutton soup.
    if you want the spice strong, then crush it, because my girls are having it too, so I didn’t crush it, just whole one.
