The Fat and I

I have the history of high cholesterol, first found out was about 10 years ago, when the company request the staff to have their medical check up, the reading then was 6.8 (<5.2) for me – - a person who only weight 50kg. The doctor just adviced take care of diet, I still young no need depend on the medication.

Then three years later I check again (yah, I know, I know, suppose to be once a year, but I… you know lar… dilly dally), the reading climb to the alarming 8.0, but still the same advice – - take care of my diet, do exercise.

OK, then I really take it seriously, even though not doing any exercise, but I really control my diet – - no butter, no milk, no cheese, no lard, no egg, no cakes, no deep fried food, no KFC etc etc etc… I almost gone nut, that was torture.

Then check again after about 9 months, it drop to 7.1! only!

Then I pregnant, I closed one eye, just eat what I feel like eating, anyway during pregnancy I don’t have much choice to the food, most of the oily food made me sick, so only cold milk, cheese and bread.

After gave birth I guess the long breastfeed journey did help me sheared some pounds, but then still I know lost weight doesn’t mean my cholesterol level also lower down.

Then I dilly dally again, until recently felt a bit uneasy on the chest, then realised I should have have my check long ago.

This time I am happy, the result came out just 5.8 (<5.2), the doctor warned me: “I know your cholesterol level lower down a lot, but doesn’t mean you now can go back to your old habit taking a lot of oily food.”

But then what I didn’t tell doctor is – - last few months I had dined on the lard, for almost every meal.

I bought about 500gm of lard from super market, fried it to get the oil, then used it to fried veggie, all sort of dishes, I even put a few drops on the fried egg and eat with plain white rice. For everyone who love Hokkien Mee will know the lard is the soul of the mee, without the lard… the mee simply can’t eat!

I guess the twins really help me lost a lot of fat in my body, breastfeeding, running around them, house work, all this are just like another kind of exercise. I hardly sweat before I pregnant, but after I pregnant and later gave birth, sweat easily like nobody business, guess this help too.

But no matter how, even thought the cholesterol level have been lower down a lot, I will still continue my usual diet – - everything in moderation. Will see how it goes next year, by then I have to check again.

LOL, your gif really make me laugh!

“no butter, no milk, no cheese, no lard, no egg, no cakes, no deep fried food, no KFC etc etc etc”….. If I have to watch diet like this, I am sure I will die faster.

Take up some exercise programme, it’s really help to stay healthier and more energetic to chase after your twins! Sorry but I can’t resist myself to promote execising.

Opps, I just have KFC yesterday. I am suppose to due for my Health Screening. Last check, I have very high good cholesterol which give me little problem.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables w/o oil i suppose. Steam your vegetables rather than fried. Green Tea also help after an oily meal.

I forget one thing….few years back I attended some health talk, one speaker mentioned of cutting down on carbohidrate intake (rice, bread, starchy food) can lower down the colesterol level. I can’t remember the details..but it’s something like “during the convertion of carbohidrate to sugar then to fat..the process produce colesterol”. The speaker also mentioned about cutting down on high colesterol food doesn’t help much on bringing down the colesterol level.

Maybe you can try to cut down the intake of starchy food, see works or not.
