Among all the crystal, I like the rock crystal most, may be because of it is colourless, so it goes well with any outfit, or can simply match with any other crystal.
I usually like those raw cut crystal, not so symmetrical, like a pebble. And also I dislike the very clear rock crystal, real clear rock crystal is very hard to come by, and now those we can find in the market are usually synthetic crystal, and most of the time worst still - - just glass. So that is why I will prefer crystal with impurity, especailly something like green phantom quartz and rutile quartz (rutile )needle, both quartz have very rich ‘impurity’ in the stone, it give extra character to it, rather than just plain clear colour.
I bought a rock crystal necklace from the flee market in Amcorp Mall years ago, it string in three strand rock crystal chips and join with few longish rock crystal. After i bought it, I dismantled it, used the rock crystal chips to make earring, and left the longish crystal, I made it into a necklace link with some China fresh water pearl.
It is a very simple combination, the design nothing to boost about. But becauseI find the rock crystal is so unique, I use the more secured method to do the wiring.
(A) is the normal common wiring to string a bead, just cut the end, and make a loop using the round nose wire.
(B) is extend the wire a bit, and make 1-3 round wrap the wire.
With the method (B), the wire wouldn’t come loose easily. Of cause it also means we need to spend more time and skill on it. And because of it safety, it usually apply on the semi-precious stone, or precious stone.
