Many years ago my family stay in a place very easy to get flooded, everytime we see the sky like this –
means is the time we remove some stuffs to the higher place.
I still remember the first time we encounter the flood, I was 13, B was 11, and Earthtone was 8, the flood came without warning, and we have no idea the water can come so fast.
That was an afternoon, me, [Bridgette](htpp://lifeissharing.blogspot.com) and earthtone was at home, our parent was in the bakery.
When we saw the drain otuside of our house getting cover by the water, we still don’t know it will be more to come, because we had been staying there for few years then, flood never happen.
Then later everything came very fast, the water start raising, pouring into our home, and worst that there was a big lorry passed by the house, and created a big wave sent even more water into the house.
three of us got panic and started crying, when the water raise almost until our knee, we all climb on the table and continue crying (:tmroll: girls…), and at that time we don’t have phone, so couldn’t call our parent.
And we thought we going to die, it is just scary.
Forgot how long we had been sitting on the table, my parent came home. They received a call from our neighbour said their daughters are crying in the house, so they came back and check on us.
And the first think my mom said was: “ai yoh…why three of you so stupid sitting on the table, why not move all the things to the table and carbaord?” *cha dou* until now if we happen to bring this out, my mom still laugh on us being stupid only know crying, scare mah…she though everyone like her has seen so many big wind big wave before meh…
Anyway…since then during the following 12 years, we always so afraid to see the sky turn it face.
In all those years, I lost all my school text books, painting (my chinese painting and water colour painting), chorus song sheet (which I couldn’t find most of the songs I sang before), and few others things in the flood, even though later we built a block in front of our house, it doesn’t help much, and a lot of the time it happen when nobody at home.
I have so many memory on walking back home in the flood water after school.
and the cleaning after the flood really a mess, and imagine in the middle of the night woke up and clean the house filled with mud and leaves and dirt.
Later we moved to a shop house, then I married off and moved where I stay now, and my parent stay at 5th floor of an apartment, our home definately wouldn’t get flooded anymore.
But whenever I see the sky like this
I will think of the people who stay in the flooded area, and some kids most likely crying like me before.

I remember abit. Horrible experience for an eight-year-old, especially with crying elder sisters for comfort….
wow.. pity the flood victims..
funny lah you…but if I was you at that time, I will also cry…scare also mah…guy also cry one leh…cry inside heart. hahaha
Singapore like no flood like that leh…at most only cover our feet.
**earthtone**, hahaha…so much of comfort right?

**SmashPop**, thanks stopping by, in the future might need your advice on photography, if you don’t mind.

**Cockroach**, hhahaha… Singapore no flood hor? that is why earthotne went back already don’t want to come back hahaha….
在我还没懂事的时候,我家也是常常淹水。很幸运的,在我还没有能力帮忙,就搬家了。
但妈妈到前几年还是会发噩梦-淹水-而且往往吓到醒。
Flood! I lost count how many times I have to fight with it since 12 yrs old! My parent’s house is a flooding area too, till now still the same and no improvement at all! Everytime the sky turn dark, we had to start to pray! Realy pity them still have to live with the flood!
I remember once I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed the table fan was floating on the pool of water in my bedroom, really a nightmare!
So good you are free from float now.
no wonder every time when thunder-lightning thunder-lightning u so scare lar, now i understand liao…. hahaha…
Old Klang Road?
These few days quite terrible, raining not stop.
Yeah loh, when this kind of weather happened.. you think about those unfortunate ones who are stuck in flood prone areas.
**cming**, 早些年我还是会作水灾的梦,好像你母亲那样吓到醒,现在已经慢慢没有了,希望今晚不会罢 :P.
:b1:
**Jefferene**, gosh…you also a flood victim before *hug*. last tiem I always wander why my parent never move out that area ASAP, now when I have family, I know it is not that easy to move.
:b2:
**Shaiulin**, now not so bad liao, now afriad of lightning and thunder is because afriad the modem and PC kena strike .
:b3:
**Zara’s Mum**, ya lor, old klang road — the very famous flooded area *sigh*.
I used to stay in a flood prone area too - Salak South. Whenever it rained heavily, I would be praying my heart out dat it would not flood but I guess I wasn’t praying wholeheartedly enough.
I remembered whenever the water is moving into the house, the first thing I did was to heaved my mattress up onto the cupboard. I oso remembered I once slept on the planks of the bed and underneath was the flood water (the water was subsiding then).
Eeeee… just gives me the shivers when I think of floods.
Shiau Lin’s comment only reminded me - no wonder you jumped each time my camera flashes when I was at your house that time. Ahaks.
BIG sister also crying ah
my parents’ house also kena b4… and it kena when everyone except me is not around… I came home to a floor full of leaves and water… clean until gila!

My mum’s hse used to be flood area too but water level till feet oni la…but still need to do the cleaning after rain stop! Now never happen anymore as we had redesigned the hse, so the rain water will not easily enter our hse…hehe

whao…seems like Malaysia or just KL is really prone to flood, most of us experienced it.
**Tracy**, yah, the mattress. we use to have a wooden floor raised up from ground about 1 feet, but after sometime it got rotten because of water. so we took it down, and since then have to take care of the mattress everytime flooded.
