One day while I was flipping through the newspaper, there was a special pull-out edition for women. I took a look at the first couple of page… advertorial on beauty facial, slimming… flip through more pages… still about beauty, slimming, SPA, and oh! fashion - latest handbags and shoes, emm… and jewellery… that’s all.
So? That’s all for women, all we women care about are facial, slimming, SPA, fashion, jewellery? Nothing more other then this?
Are we women that shallow?
None of the articles had anything I am interested in (AH… Twinsmom, you are not a woman!!!), choy… of course I am a woman, but the things I interested in, and enjoy are not limited in the beauty and slimming only.
What about woman’s well being (spa doesn’t count!)? How about some good books (not only cook book, OK)? Or a special cover for an unsung heroine, and some IT gadget? Or even machine- I mean cars, not kitchen electrical appliances ( even though I don’t know how to drive, but I love reading cars review. If Twinsdad going to get a new car, I hold 50% vote, you know?).
No, the editor thinks we women are not interested in any of the above mentioned.
Same as the special edition for Valentine’s day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. The way it being arranged and edited makes me feel like the relationships between people are built superficially on food and gifts. If you don’t do it (dinner or presents), then it means your love is not “sincere”. Is spending a ridiculous sum on dinner and presents on designated “romantic / love” days (somehow, most things are cheaper/ reasonable on normal, designated “non romantic/fathers’ / mothers’ days!) the only way or the best way to show one’s love? Who’s in charge of what-day-is-special-day?
Usually when I am in a different country, I love to read the local paper and magazine. I can have an image about the country from the media. Wonder what a foreigner would think about the women in Malaysia, from reading the “women special” in the newspaper.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a feminist. I love to be pampered and fussed over about like most women, but that doesn’t mean women have no other interest / likes. What irks me is that all these “special-pullout” in the papers main objective to make money from ads. “Women Special” is about looking beautiful and fashionable, “Fathers’ / Mothers’ / Valentine’s Day” is about if-you-love-him/ her, you should buy him / her this and that , or take them to this ridiculously priced dinner “special”.
Come on ladies, tell me, besides beauty, slimming, fashion and jewellery, what else you like?
女人錢最易賺咼！
我睇係女人爱美丽的市場在現實社会中的需求量大過心境知識‧ 又或者出版商品質管制等於零蛋又低估現今女人的智識階級、outdate左‧(又或者妳係always think outside the box果種人‧D人跟妳唔倒囉！:lol: )
After all the paper work for the customers and target the market, didn’t expect reader like us.
About what I would like to see in the paper….我想睇多D macho靓仔啦 :Smile:…(講笑)
我希望睇吓有多D感人故仔去鼓勵激起了人的信心‧
影相技術、介绍本地旅游点、Games like填字等等.

It’d be great to have a book review section and IT and electronic goods info.

mariah..unfortunately they’ve generalized all women in the marketing gimmick and this is how they target women…it’s a reality…;)

some new sweater or handicrafts I had done ? some projects on how who raised funds for some cause? how to invest ? how to save ?

I love those technology things, like hp, pocket pc, mp3, etc.. and I love travelling too..

Be a lady, i seldom talk about slimming, facial, vogue trends and etc.I seldom put the cosmetic on my face, the worst is i don’t own any lipstick too. My last made up was on my wedding day, wow, few years ago.
I love to read IT books (although still not really understand), i like to shop to hardware shop and i like to play with advance and fancy gadgets. When come to the handphone technologies, my hubby is more “pig” than me. So, who said woman only restricted on feminine’s stuffs??

LOL… so did you hubby consult you on the gadget?
Hehe actually hor, the female magazines here are no different… mostly focus on hair, fashion, dating advice, makeup etc. But also alot on dieting, exercising, health advice… but not so much on the tech gadget stuff.
I love going to Best Buy and staring at all the fancy brand new “toys” eventhough I don’t understand how they work. And I love photography… and cooking. Can’t live without food.

no choice lah… I think is because men are that shallow mah… so women got no choice but to be shallow lor

i love i.t technology (whatever it called)… so everytime when i buy those magazine, all my friends will say me so boyish.
