I have been thinking about this since last year — do or do not continue putting the twins’ pictures online after they reach three. Initially, my plan was stop posting their pictures when they reach three, but been dilly-dallying, and also because I know some of my relatives are reading my blog too. My blog acts as an information centre for the twins’ aunties and uncles, letting them know how the twins are doing / developing, hence the reason for me to still post their pictures.

But I have read some articles about the dangers of posting our kids’ picture on internet. When our blog is up in the WWW, together with the pictures, we have no idea who is reading our blog. Even though with the help of the site meter, there are still a large number of readers (about 2/3) that I don’t know at all, besides some friends and bloggers which we have met before, and “see” everyday.

I blog because of the girls, and because of blogging, I am very fortunate to get to know a lot of wonderful people, and even become very close with few of them. That is the wonder of blogsphere.

But some of the news or articles (from blogs) I’ve read makes me worry sometimes… worry that my girls’ picture being “stolen” from my site and manipulated for other purposes. But still, I can’t help but put it up (ai yah, they so cute, how can I not brag about them). I’ve been careful of what pictures I post in my blog, like never posting any pictures of them in the nude, not even bathing picture (there some funny moments when they are in their “swimming pool”), because if we read the news, there are a lot of perverted sickos out there.

But recently, after some thought, I think it is time for me to “restrict” my postings that have the girls’ pictures or videos in them for safety purposes, and also, because they are going to kindy next year. They are big girls already, so I think it is time for me to practise some privacy for them.

I will continue to blog about them (they are the main purpose for me to blog, follow by my own “musing”), but if I put up their pictures, I will have to password protect it.

Password protected post means the post still shows on my blog, but it will titled as “Password protected: my twins”. Readers are required to fill in a password (which I will send out), submit the password and… viola, there is the post.

I know, I know, can be quite ma-fan (troublesome), but I need to be careful. The world is not innocent anymore, and with ads about teaching people how to “hypnotise” other people to like, and even love, them, one can’t be too careful.

But whether I do or do not use the function mentioned above, the normal posts will still remain accessible to all. This password only applies to posts with the twins’ pictures.

So, if you come across the password protected post, e-mail me for the password if you didn’t receive one, all you need to do is just asnwer a few questions about the history of your family, and some detail on your “joo chong sap baat doi (18 ancestries 祖宗十八代)” and I get the CIA agent to check on you. LOL… *just kidding*.

Agreed, should be protected. Idea, instead of sending password for every protected stuff, why not create one time username and password for the user. The one with login might able to see protected stuff, the one without login only can see alphabet or unprotected stuff. Btw, i am a stranger hoh, will i get the access hah? talk so much.

as for the blogspot, hahaha… I my very beginning I post the girls picture with water colour effect, which was blur image, then later thought they still very young then only I post the “proper” pictures.

But it is really depends on individual, I just a bit insecure I guess LOL…
